Work with us Home Care Patient Assistant

Care for and accompany our patients in the comfort of their homes: hygiene and comfort, vital signs and accompaniment to appointments, with warmth and respect for their independence, coordinated by our licensed nurses.

Duties

  • Hygiene and comfort care: assisted bathing, oral care, applying body lotions, passive exercises and perineal care
  • Vital signs monitoring
  • Accompaniment for transfers or hospital visits
  • Companionship and help with daily activities (meals, mobility and comfort), following the care plan
  • Alert the coordinators right away about any change in the patient's condition
  • Complete the end-of-shift report after every shift (required)
  • Keep Bonzül's coordinators updated on the patient's progress; communication with families and scheduling always go through the co-founders

Clinical procedures (wound care, tubes and catheters, injections and IV lines) are performed only by our nursing staff.

Requirements

  • A patient assistant, elder care or similar course or certificate (a plus)
  • At least 1 year of experience caring for patients or older adults
  • First aid or CPR course (a plus)
  • Up-to-date criminal record certificate (hoja de delincuencia)
  • Availability for day, night, weekend or holiday shifts (tell us yours in the form)
  • Able to travel within the GAM (own vehicle is a plus, not required)
  • Up-to-date vaccinations, including hepatitis B
  • Conversational English (a plus: we also care for expat families)

Schedule

Both full-time and part-time positions are available. Shifts of 4, 8, 12 or 24 hours, day or night, in each patient's home, depending on your availability and our patients' needs.

Work location

In patients' homes across Costa Rica's Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM): San José, Escazú, Santa Ana, Heredia, Alajuela and Cartago. Bonzül has no clinic: the work takes place in each patient's home.
